Amba is a Maldives diving liveaboard yacht that stands out from the others. The recently-refurbished boat is run by a professional and friendly team, meaning that every moment spent on board is one to remember forever. In the past, Amba spent most of its time in the northern Maldives, but it has recently changed to focus on the central atolls. From 2022, the trips will be longer than most other Maldives liveaboards.
Starting with the accommodation, Amba has 10 guest 2-pax cabins meaning that up to 20 guests can join each Maldives diving safari. All are air conditioned and have private en suite bathrooms & windows. Four of the cabins are on the upper deck, with the remaining six on the cabin deck. The upper deck's four cabins include one double, one twin bunk and two master suite cabins, which have their own private balcony/sundeck as well as panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Amba's lucky guests who stay on the lower deck sleep in twin or double bed cabins, some of which actually have a double bed and a single, but all cabins are limited to two guests. Each has its own bathroom, with hot & cold freshwater shower.
Communal areas on Amba include indoors and al fresco. While the beautifull saloon, dining room and bar are very welcoming, guests dine outdoors, or enjoy a drink or sunbathe at several places outside, including shaded and in the sun. The size and layout of Amba is ideal to ensure that everyone can find somewhere comfortable to relax on board, and this can be alone, in pairs, or small or larger groups. The crew are very service-minded and always on hand to offer help. The dive crew are experienced and the whole team have been working together for a long time.
At a length of 33m. Amba is an average size for luxury diving Maldives liveaboard boats. Like most others, there are three indoor decks and a sundeck on top. Unlike most others, Amba’s designers and builders inserting a special stabiliser in the hull to reduce roll when the sea becomes rough. This feature is something that guests never see, and maybe don’t appreciate, but it benefits everyone on board, from those serving or eating food to those who want a good night’s rest during an exciting diving cruise at The Maldives. There are also windbreakers on the sundeck to ensure that guests on sun loungers can enjoy more peace and quiet on these wonderful Maldives diving cruises to some of the most beautiful atolls and dive sites.
Of course, most Amba guests come to enjoy Maldives diving cruises by actually leaving the luxury of the ship and going diving. On Amba this is very well organised and thought out. To maximise space on the ship, Amba uses two tender boats. This also improves efficiency, convenience and safety. The main one is a large boat known as a Dhoni, and this is where the equipment is stored. Divers enter the sea from the Dhoni, which has several platform exits. At the end of each Maldives scuba diving experience, the Dhoni will be ready to collect divers soon after they return to the surface. This system works very well and ensures that nobody is left waiting too long to be picked up after an exciting Maldives dive.
Please note that all divers on Amba need to be certified to dive with Nitrox, and those who are not certified can do the course on board. Nitrox is safer and healthier for the diver, and enables you to stay at depth for longer periods of your dive.
New for 2021, Amba departures are guaranteed, even if only one guest joins! This means there's no risk of you booking your diving vacation only for the trip to be cancelled due to not enough other guests.

Itinerary
Amba has several itineraries, most of which we try to show in tables below.
The itineraries below are the most-common for each trip, but these can sometimes be changed for a number of reasons. Small changes are made due to weather & sea conditions, special marine life sightings, overcrowded dive sites, local-authorities' instructions, and the needs & requests of the paying guests. The safety & comfort of all guests is most important at all times.
